I
ought to make it clear that I didn't work on the Russell Brand show,
although I did manage to get in as a guest once. This is also not a
finished trailer by any means - I had intended to pass a polished
trailer on to the team via Trevor Lock, but midway through production,
a burglary relieved me of my laptop and all the material. This early
preview copy was found somewhere, which demonstrates the essence of the
piece, but unfortunately it hasn't been mixed in a decent environment,
nor has the compressor been adjusted for a more BBC-friendly response,
so it isn't a very stable soundscape, still sounds a bit cluttered, and the EQ is atrocious.
I
used Live 5 to produce a backing track which combines three different
songs, one for each presenter, in a seamless montage, flanked by BBC
6Music jingles. In all, five elements were tonally and rhythmically
matched. Adobe Audition was then used to cut in clips from a recent
programme. I was pleased with the slightly sycophantic and indulgent
inclusion of Peter Cook (taken from Derek and Clive) seemingly speaking
Russell's name - Brand is a great admirer of Cook.
